Poland PL

Poland is another large Central European country, located on the Baltic Sea and host to the Vistula and Oder rivers. Its beautiful landscape, historical monuments, and its cultural respect for traditions and hospitality make Poland very attractive and unique.

There are many cities in Poland that are worth seeing. Most notable are Warszawa, the biggest city and capital of Poland, and one of the EU's thriving new business centers; Kraków, the cultural capital of Poland, and its historical capital during its formative years during the Middle Ages; Łódź, is renowned for Piotrkowska Street, full of picturesque 19th-century architecture; Wrocław, the old Silesian city presents a perfect mixture of Gothic and baroque architecture; Poznań, one of the first capitals of Poland (10th and 11th centuries); Gdańsk, one of the old, beautiful European cities, right on the Baltic coast; and Szczecin, one of the most important cities in Pomerania since the Middle Ages.

Although the larger Polish cities are the main destination for many tourists, the diverse Polish landscape simply should not be ignored. Poland's South is occupied by the Carpathian and Sudeten Mountains. Its lowlands and uplands stretch throughout central Poland. The Northern part of the country, with its Masurian and Pomeranian land lakes, is slightly rolling, well forested and dotted with thousands of lakes. The sandy beaches of the Baltic coast are found further North. Poland is a European destination which demands attention.
